Betong District Merchant Association member Akeasit Srilarpraksa said the private sector and the government are now jointly developing Aiyoe Weng cloud viewing point in Betong district to attract more visitors.
The development plan includes the construction of a skywalk bridge to allow the visitors to closely view the beauty of the clouds. The construction is expected to commence in 2017 with a 98 million baht budget.
Aiyoe Weng area will be developed as a hot spot offering a range of activities in addition to the cloud viewing, including camping, river rafting and local cuisines.
Operations and management of new local facilities are to be run by the local villagers so they will gain more incomes. So will Betong district and nearby areas throughout the southern border provinces.
Betong district is a popular tourism destination for many Thais and Malaysians, given increased popularity among social media users, resulting in the increasing number of visitors.
