Wonderfruit Festival from 16-19 February 2017 in Pattaya

Originally scheduled for December 2016, Thailand’s boutique camping festival Wonderfruit recently made the decision to postpone until 16-19 February 2017 to respect the mourning period for King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Returning once again to The Fields at Siam Country Club in Pattaya, the event will include musicians from around the globe, stunning art installations, a stage made out of harvested rice, acclaimed chefs, engaging talks and workshops, parkour lessons, and an interactive area for kids to learn and play.

As for their eclectic music lineup, Wonderfruit has begun to confirm many of the initially announced artists including live drum-and-bass ensemble Rudimental, Scottish hip-hop trio and Mercury Award recipients for Best Album Young Fathers, rising UK vocalist and producer Shura, Grammy-nominated singer Lianne La Havas, Brooklyn indie duo Buke and Gase, and more including JUNUN featuring Shye Ben Tzur & The Rajasthan Express, Kate Simko & London Electronic Orchestra, and Mad Professor. New additions include Los Angeles-based DJ and producer Sabo with more TBA soon.

Complementing the visionary music lineup, Wonderfruit will also offer audiences the opportunity to interact with a myriad of uniquely crafted stage designs. Celebrating Thailand’s rich farming culture, The Farm Stage from creators PO-D Architects x Thor Kaichon will be decorated using harvested rice and feature a diverse lineup of musicians and performing artists. Next up is the Solar Stage from Burning Man favorite Gregg Fleishman, whose geometric approach to design will be the focal point of sunset and sunrise sets. Other highlights include the Molam Bus from Jim Thompson Arts Center, showcasing a unique genre of Thai folk music in a converted bus that acts as a stage and interactive cultural exhibition.

Beyond the beauteous stage designs, guests of Wonderfruit will also experience a bevy of electrifying art installations throughout the festival grounds. Highlights will include a secluded multi-sensory chime environment called Wonder Lily Island from creator Moral Turgeman with surprise performances and ceremonial tastings; a Cocoon Playground from Waft Lab that is scheduled to include complex audiovisual workshops and performances; rock-like objects created by Ada Chirakranont, and a blazing display of light animations and DJ sets at Bonafide from ZIEGHT x Iconic Studio.

Guests seeking out thrilling performance pieces will be delighted by an improvised mixture of dance, martial arts, physical theater and painting from Ulrich Gottlieb and his project #Touch; a breathtaking combination of flame-spinning and aerial hoop acrobatics from Somphot Thongyuak and Alexandra; spectacular circus arts from renowned performer Reprizzo, and a galactic puppet installation from Australian visual arts team Sight By Storm. Guests interested in becoming their own work of art can also step into Wonder Salon to create outlandish fantasy accessories or undergo fabulous face and body painting from Wonderfruit’s talented team of stylists.

For their Wonder Feasts program, which brings luxurious sit-down meals to The Fields, guests can take part in a world-class dinner from Asia’s number one chef Gaggan Anand, a reggae brunch by Paolo Vitaletti (Peppina / Appia) and Jarrett Wrisley (Soul Food Mahanakorn / Appia), an unforgettable daytime banquet from London’s celebrated Love Brunch series with Chef Jeriko of Cocotte, and a forward-thinking meal from F.A.C.T. Collective that will combine the flavors of northern and southern Thai cuisines using home-grown and wild-foraged ingredients.

To continue Wonderfruit’s commitment to maintaining a family-friendly environment, the festival will provide a dedicated zone for children to take part in creative workshops, games, and entertainment at Camp Wonder. Activities will include capoeira lessons for kids, body painting, arts and crafts including the creation of hats and masks, and an event call Messy Jam where kids can fill up squirt guns and balloons with paint and go wild on a canvas or even their friends and family members.

For adults also looking to take part in enthralling activities, Wonderfruit has laid out a stimulating wellness and adventure lineup to ensure every guest has the chance to stay active. This will include parkour classes from Thailand’s highly praised free running crew Team Farang, lessons in Chinese martial arts from Master Zhu Qiguo with a focus on Wushu, Shaolin Kung fu and Tai chi, and exhilarating plane rides that will allow guests to see the beauty of Wonderfruit from the skies above The Fields.

Guests interested in expanding their worldview can take part in the Scratch Talks speaker series with a talk from Eddie Brock to discuss his project Real Island Life, which focuses on rebuilding island communities through sustainable education. Other talks will include EnVision Corporation CEO Todd Lemons speaking on sustainable technologies, Natural Capital Alliance founder Alan Laubsch touching on the use of Bitcoin’s revolutionary Blockchain technology, Dr. Andy Cornish sharing stories of his work with sharks and stingrays, and Trash Hero elaborating on their remarkable beach cleanup campaigns.

4-day passes can currently be purchased for $160. Visit Wonderfruit’s website for more information on securing your tickets, travel, and accommodations.
