Cycling in Sing Buri

On Sept 10-11, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)’s Lop Buri office, which also oversees tourism in Sing Buri, will host the “Cycling To The Town Of Heroes: Sing Buri — A Nice Place To Live” tour on a route called paying respect to and seeking blessings from the Reclinging Buddha, the Meditating Buddha and the Standing Budda in Sing Buri province. The objectives are to promote local tourism and encourage people to exercise regularly.

The trip will begin in front of the old provincial hall at 1.30pm and participants will travel by bus to several temples and return to join a party. On the second day, participants will ride bicycles on either a 72km route or a 32km route from 7-11am.

Registration for the trip will begin at 5am, while the award presentation ceremony will be held from 11am-noon, followed by lunch.

Pomelo Fair in Chai Nat

From Sept 9-18, Chai Nat province and TAT’s Suphan Buri office will host the “33rd Khao Taeng Kwa Pomelo Festival”, in the Hin Riang area in front of Chai Nat Provincial Hall, Muang district.

Activities will include pomelo parades from all districts, the sale and contest of pomelos, the sale of various kinds of trees and local products. There will be concerts by famous singers, as well as a Miss Chainat Pomelo Festival 2016 beauty contest.

The fair is aimed at promoting the famous khao taeng kwa pomelo, boosting the sale of farm produce, plants and handicrafts and supporting local tourism and Thai intellect. Since Chai Nat’s fertile soil is suitable for all strains of pomelo, orchards have become agro-tourist attractions for study trips.

After the fair, participants can visit local attractions, such as a bird park, a museum, the Chao Phraya Dam, Wat Khlong Makham Thao and nine other famous temples.

Agro Fair in Nonthaburi

From Sept 8-11, the “Thailand Agri Expo” will take place from 10am-9pm by the lake in Muang Thong Thani, under the theme of “Farm Produce For Modern City Dwellers”.

Activities are divided into several categories — farming for urban people, contests, knowledge, workshops and eating and shopping.

Visitors will be able to learn how to grow melons on the rooftops of their town houses or hydroponic vegetables in a limited space. Competitions will involve marathon eating, cooking and beauty.

The knowledge zone will feature counselling on farming, such as mulberry gardening, earthworm raising and plant cultivating. Workshops will offer tips on how to cook food from toxin-free vegetables, choose and peel durian, make salad rolls and grow and preserve figs.

Visitors can enjoy food at a specially prepared buffet for 300 baht, where health-concerned visitors can choose various kinds of “clean food”. In addition, visitors can buy farm produce, food, trees and souvenirs at very low prices from more than 100 booths and vendors.
