Using the MRT can be a daunting experience for foreigners, especially since there is a shameful gap between the Blue and Purple lines. So the operator of the MRT decided to launch an app, called “Bangkok MRT,” to help out commuters this week.

Sombat Kitjalaksana, president of Bangkok Expressway and Metro Plc, said that the app, launched this week, is designed to answer frequently asked questions from commuters. It has details on the two subway routes, the Blue and Purple lines, as well as the connecting points with other mass transit networks, the exits and entrances, fares, and the time needed to get you to your destination.

For people who drive to the train station, there is also a page for you. It includes parking rates and tells which MRT stations have parking facilities. The app includes news on events and promotions, as well as information about the times of the first and last trains of the day.

For anyone who is interested, the app is now available for download for both Android and iOS. It comes in Thai and English.

Now we just need an all-in-one app that includes the MRT, BTS, and the Airport Rail Link. Oh wait, that already existed.
